The Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) established ZCAS through an Act of Parliament No. 1 of 1989 (ZCAS ACT) to train accountants; promote research and the advancement of learning in accountancy, finance, and management development, information technology and related studies. The provision of advisory and consulting services also forms part of the ZCAS mandate.

Initially, ZCAS received donor support from the European Union, NORAD and DANIDA. Now, ZCAS is fully self-supporting and reliant on the income received from its training and consulting services. ZCAS has achieved international recognition for the quality of the courses and programmes and the commitment and professionalism of staff teaching on them.

ZCAS despite being a Statutory Corporation has managed to sustain its operations without any government grants. This is an excellent record to talk about and it’s indicative enough of the kind of management and staff ZCAS is exposed to. ZCAS is determined to see that many more institutions trending in a similar direction could learn from it and become self-sustaining.

In 1999, ZCAS moved into purpose built accommodation in the center of Lusaka, easily accessible by road and rail. We have 25 classrooms, seminar rooms, and 4 air conditioned and networked computer laboratories with 24 hour internet connection, 4 large lecture theatres, self catering hostel accommodation for 405, a cafeteria, sports and entertainment facilities.

The ZCAS mission statement is “To be one of the leading accountancy and business training Centres in the world through the provision of high quality courses with exceptional pass rates".Management development training and Information Technology training have become an integral part of our core business besides accountancy training.
