This course is an ideal introduction into Accountancy and offers the opportunity for individuals to obtain recognition for their work in accounting technician and support roles.
To qualify, candidates will need to complete up to nine examinations designed to test the knowledge and understanding required to work as Accounting Technicians. The nine examinations are broken down into three levels and can be attempted twice a year (in June and December). Upon successful completion, candidates are given exemptions from the ACCA Part 1. Introductory level and intermediate examinations may also be taken as Computer Based. Examination Structure Level: Introduction Paper 1 Recording Financial Transactions (INT) Paper 2 Information for Management Control Level: Intermediate Paper 3 Maintaining Financial Records (INT) Paper 4 Accounting for Costs Level: Advanced, CORE Paper 5 Managing People and Systems Paper 6 Drafting Financial Statements (INT) Paper 7 Planning, Control and Performance Management Options (Two from Three) Paper 8 Implementing Audit Procedures Paper 9 Preparing Taxation Computations Paper 10 Managing Finances Qualification To achieve the ACCA Technician Qualification candidates will have to pass the above examinations and complete a training record. Successful candidates will be able to call themselves ACCA Accounting Technicians and use the designation CAT (Certified Accounting Technicians) after their names. Completion of the Technician Examinations will offer automatic transfer to ACCA professional examinations with exemption from Fundamental Knowledge Stage. Duration The minimum time required for the student without any exemptions is 18 months or 3 examination sessions paper based or 12 months Computer Based. Entry Criteria Applicants should normally be at least 16 years of age. No formal academic qualifications are necessary to register, though grade 12 graduates with 6 points or better in English and Mathematics are encouraged to study this course.
