The Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) established ZCAS in 1988 to train accountants; promote research and the advancement of learning in accountancy, finance, and management development, information technology and related studies. The provision of advisory and consulting services also forms part of the ZCAS mandate.  

Initially, ZCAS received donor support from the European Union, NORAD and DANIDA. Now, ZCAS is fully self-supporting and reliant on the income received from its training and consulting services. ZCAS has achieved international recognition for the quality of the courses and programmes and the commitment and professionalism of staff teaching on them.

In 1999, ZCAS moved into purpose built campus in the heart of Lusaka making it easily accessible by all stakeholders. We have 25 classrooms, 4 air-conditioned networked computer laboratories with 24-hour internet connectivity, 4 large lecture theatres, self-catering hostel accommodation with 405 bed capacity, a cafeteria, sports and entertainment facilities.

Executive Development workshops in the areas of Finance, Accounting, Audit and Information Technology have become an integral part of our core business besides our traditional long-term training.

Over the past two decades, ZCAS has trained and helped various institutions unlock their managerial potential thereby maximising the shareholders economic wealth. We also conducted training programmes for a number of government ministries and parastatal organizations.  This has been mainly in areas of accountancy and finance, information, business management as well as marketing. Some of the organizations trained include:

These workshops have been run in Lusaka, Kabwe, Nchelenge, Isoka, Mwinilunga, Macha, Katete and Luangwa, Siavonga and the Copperbelt. The popular ones being Finance for Non-Finance Managers, Cost Reduction & Cost Control, Project Management, Investment & Hedging Strategies and Budgetary Control.  

The programmes capture issues of strategic importance that include; resource mobilization, working capital management, corruption and money laundering, corporate governance, performance monitoring and evaluation, project appraisals, interpretation of financial statements, hedging strategies, valuation of companies etc, all vital for a successful business executives. More than 2700 business managers have been trained and have benefited from our internationally reputable tailor-made courses.

Generally, ZCAS has a wider scope, knowledge, skills and competence to handle most of the areas in management and finance considering that the Centre has been doing this successfully over the past two decades.
