Bachelor of Computing with Education

The demand for qualified lecturers and teachers of ICT courses in colleges and secondary schools has made it necessary to introduce the Bachelor of Computing with Education degree programme in order to raise the standards of teaching/lecturing in these institutions. This collaboration between the University of Zambia and the Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies presents an opportunity to produce a product that will help to raise the standard of teaching ICT programmes in the country and the region.

The Bachelor of Computing with Education degree programme is a University of Zambia (UNZA) programme offered and administered by ZCAS. Therefore, students will register at ZCAS and the teaching and examination of the programme will also take place at ZCAS. In administering the programme, ZCAS will observe The University of Zambia quality assurance standards including the appointment of qualified lecturers to teach the courses.

Each year of study will be divided into two semesters and full-time students are expected to take four courses in each semester while part-time students will take up to three courses. Except for Educational Research at third year, the courses are structured in such a way that semester one courses are not a pre-requisite for semester two courses in each year. Entry Requirements

To qualify for admission to the BComp Ed Programme an applicant must have a minimum of five credits at O’ level including English and must satisfy the entrance requirements of the BComp Ed programme which are:

  1. Successful completion of the Year One BScComp Ed programme offered by ZCAS
  2. Successful completion of first year of Bachelor of Science with Education or BEDMAS
  3. Holder of a Diploma in Secondary Education Science and Mathematics
  4. Holder of a Degree in ICT
  5. Holder of any other relevant advanced diploma in ICT programme such as NCC-IAD or L5, the British qualification IMIS HND
  6. Holder of any relevant 3 year diploma in any ICT related area from a reputable college or university
  7. Three ‘A’ level passes including Mathematics or equivalent
